Registration of Proprietary Chinese Medicines

According to Chinese Medicine Ordinance, all kinds of proprietary Chinese medicines (pCms) must first be registered by the Chinese Medicines Board before they can be imported, manufactured and sold in Hong Kong.

Application for registration of proprietary Chinese medicines manufactured in Hong Kong should be submitted by the relevant manufacturer, whilst application for registration of proprietary Chinese medicines manufactured outside Hong Kong should be submitted by the importer or the local representative or agent of the manufacturers.

If the subject medicine was sold or manufactured in Hong Kong on 1 March 1999, the relevant traders may also apply for registration under transitional arrangements.
